Fire investigators estimate the damage associated with this event at $75,000. The cause is still under investigation.
The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 111 Spring Valley Road on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 9:51pm. Units arrived on the scene less than four minutes later and found heavy fire and smoke in the roof above the garage. Columbia Fire Department personnel performed an aggressive fire attack and brought the event under control in approximately five minutes. The fire was contained to the attic area above the garage. Fire department personnel remain on the scene looking for fire extension into concealed spaces. Fire investigators are on the scene performing an origin and cause investigation. The cause of the fire and damage estimate have not been determined at the time of this press release. Six units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this call. There were no injuries associated with this event.
