Contact: Columbia Public Works
Columbia Public Works is preparing for an incoming winter weather event. Crews have already pre-treated bridges, hills and curves on priority routes yesterday with salt brine, and we are continuing to closely monitor weather and road conditions as precipitation enters the area.
A 2-person crew is in place now to prepare and monitor priority streets. An 8-person night crew will begin at 7:00 pm, and ramp up to a full night crew at 11:00 pm to monitor priority streets and be ready to respond to changing road conditions.
The latest forecast is for freezing rain and/or a wintry mix to enter the area as early as this evening and continue through Saturday morning. Air and pavement temperatures look to remain below freezing overnight so widespread slickness is expected. It is anticipated that pavement conditions will significantly deteriorate through the evening and overnight, and customers should use caution if they have to travel.
Monitor our activities and road conditions via our facebook and twitter feeds or on our new website at www.comosnow.com.
