A New and Improved
March 3, 2013 - Project web cam is live. Picture is updated every 15 minutes.
February 21, 2014 - Scott Blvd. will CLOSE on Monday, March 3 at 7:00. Scott Blvd. between Bellview Drive to just south of the existing Hinkson Creek bridge will be closed. The roadway and existing bridge will be removed and rebuilt during the project. Park access to both Scott Blvd. and J. Dix Station will be CLOSED. The trail access will remain open during the construction. The intersection of Scott Blvd. and Vawter School Road will remain open to west/south traffic on Vawter to Scott and north/east traffic on Scott to Vawter. (See commuter alternative map for details.) Park access is scheduled to reopen, weather permitting, around mid-July. The new Scott Blvd. roadway and bridge is scheduled to be open to two-way traffic, weather permitting, by August 8, 2014.
February 11, 2014 - Emery Sapp and Son's (ES&S) has been awarded the bid ($4,937,967.25) to construct Phase II of the Scott Blvd. corridor. Currently there is no official date when construction of Phase II will begin. A construction closing date will be announced soon. We do encourage residents/motorist who will be affected by the closure to begin exploring and using alternative routes.
December 26, 2013 - Columbia Public Works has listened to our customers and have worked hard to incorporate their concerns into the construction plan. The Director of Public Works stated that the intersection of Vawter School Road and Scott Blvd. would remain open for through traffic during 90% of the project. There will be a three week window during the project, weather dependent, which the intersection must be closed to all traffic. While it will increase the overall cost of the project, our customers have stated they are willing to increase the cost to avoid a full closure of the intersection. Traffic will continue to move north from Scott to east on Vawter School Road/Nifong Blvd., and west on Vawter School Road to south on Scott Blvd. Due to construction limitations, the bridge and a portion of Scott Blvd. between Bellview Drive and Vawter School must still be closed to all traffic throughout the project.
Welcome. This web site was created to keep you, our customer, informed concerning the Scott Boulevard Corridor project. The Scott Boulevard Corridor begins in northeast Columbia at State Route E and continues south through western Columbia to State Route K.
The improvements to Scott Boulevard are being completed in phases as funding allows. Phase I was completed in 2009. Phase II will begin in 2014 and Phase III is scheduled to begin in 2016. The northern phase of the project which involves an interchange at I-70 is unfunded.
We hope you will take this journey with us as we work to improve one of Columbia's major roadways and will stop by this site often to learn about the projects and to view the progress as we begin Phase II. Check out the ever expanding Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ'S) page from time to time as well.
We're also listening to you. If you have specific concerns during the project, please call us at (573) 874-7250 or email us at PubW@GoColumbiaMo.com
