Columbia Parks and Recreation
Creating Community through People, Parks and Programs
Trail: 1.3 miles, concrete
The Trail begins at Bonnie View Nature Sanctuary located at 3300 Rollins Road and routes all the way to Scott Blvd. north of Chapel Hill Road. There is a trail connector through Fairview Park to Fairview Elementary School to provide a safe and enjoyable route to school for students. Surrounding residents can also access the trail from Plymouth Road, Westport Drive, Bray Avenue/Weaver Road, Dublin Park, and Scott Blvd.
Trail users can enjoy a lovely wooded view from the boardwalk as they approach Dublin Park from the north, then cross over the Scott's Branch Creek in the park via a pedestrian bridge. The trail extends south of Dublin Park to Scott Blvd. Trail enthusiasts will then be able to travel west to the Chapel Hill Pedway via the existing Scott Blvd. underpass or utilize the Scott Blvd. Pedway to travel all the way to the MKT Trail! Scott's Branch Trail is part of the overall trail network designed to connect thousands of residents to the trail system. This project was funded by the Park Sales Tax.
No dogs are allowed on the portion of the trail that runs through the Columbia Audubon Nature Sanctuary. When the City negotiated the easement through the Audubon property, this was a condition required by the Columbia Audubon Society so as not to disturb their bird watching activity. This portion of the trail is signed as you enter the property via the trail from either the west or east side. Also, no dogs are allowed at the Bonnie View Nature Sanctuary west of the trail. The "no dogs" areas are designated by a red grid on the Scott's Branch Trail Map. Dogs may be on a 4-ft. leash on other portions of the trail and at Fairview Park. There is a "Doggie Detour" route designated on the trail map to assist dog owners who are looking for a dog friendly connection between the north and south portions of the trail. The "Doggie Detour" uses sidewalks along Bray and Dublin Avenues as a detour to avoid the portion of the trail that passes through the Columbia Audubon Nature Sanctuary where dogs are not permitted.
