History

This 81-acre property was donated by Tom Atkins in 2002 to the City of Columbia and Boone County, each having undivided one-half interest. Mr. Atkins donated the land with the intent that the land be developed for youth recreation. A baseball complex on this property opened for play March 31, 2009. In celebration of the completion of phase one of the development, the park was dedicated onMay 11, 2009. Funding has not been indentified for future phases. See capital improvement project below for more information on the Phase I development.
