Parks
Again St. Park is a neighborhood park that features a picnic shelter, playground, climbing wall, fitness course trail, basketball court, and playfield with a backstop. It sits on ten acres of land adjacent to West Boulevard Elementary School. The park land is owned by Columbia Public School District and leased to the City of Columbia for use as a public park.
C.M. Albert Memorial Park is a 20 acre park within the larger 79 acre Albert-Oakland Park. It resides in the southern portion of Albert-Oakland Park and can be accessed from Parker Street. The tract was donated as a memorial to C.M. Albert. As a condition of the donation, the 20-acre park parcel was to be named C. M. Albert Memorial Park. C. M. Albert Memorial Park can be accessed from Parker St. from the south, from Bear Creek Trail from the west, and by the hard-surface trail in Albert-Oakland Park from the north.
Albert-Oakland Park is a 79-acre community park that features Columbia's largest municipal pool, two 18-hole disc golf courses, twelve lighted pickleball courts, a basketball court, a lighted tennis court, lighted baseball/softball fields, reservable picnic shelters, playgrounds, and much more! It is a trailhead for the 4.8 mile Bear Creek Trail.
This 201 – acre undeveloped park is located at the intersection of Vandiver Drive and Mexico Gravel Road. The park will be maintained as a combination of green space and nature area in order to preserve the wildlife and natural landscape of the property.
American Legion Park is a 17-acre community park that is home to the only archery range in Columbia's park system. It also has two lighted baseball fields, concession stand/restrooms, fishing pond, two non-reservable picnic shelters, and playground. American Legion Herbert Williams Post 202 is located on 3 acres of the 20-acre property.
Atkins Park is home to a premiere five-field lighted, irrigated baseball complex complete with batting cages, concession stand/restrooms, picnic areas, and picnic shelter. The park is located in north Columbia adjacent to the Boone County Fairgrounds. It is jointly owned by the City of Columbia and the County of Boone and managed by Columbia Parks and Recreation.
This 12-acre neighborhood park primarily serves Auburn Hills Subdivision off of East Brown School Road. The park has a playground, non-reservable shelter, half basketball court, 0.3 mile loop trail, open play field, and pond.
This five-acre neighborhood park has a fishing lake and dock, non-reservable shelter, half basketball court, playground, and a concrete loop trail around the lake.
This 30-acre undeveloped park is adjacent to Battle High School. The first phase of the park development is funded by the 2015 Park Sales Tax and the design of the park is underway.
This ten-acre neighborhood park primarily serves the Bear Creek Family Townhouse neighborhood. It has a non-reservable picnic shelter, playground, full basketball court, and a playfield with a backstop.
Bonnie View Nature Area is the trailhead for the Scott's Branch Trail. It has a medium-size reservable shelter, restroom, and beautiful natural areas to explore on the 93-acre property. The park is adjacent to the Columbia Audubon Nature Sanctuary. No dogs are allowed on the trail in the Columbia Audubon Nature Sanctuary.
Molly Bowden Memorial Park was dedicated to Officer Molly Bowden, a City of Columbia police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2005. Bowden Park is on land owned by Boone Hospital Center and is adjacent to Boone Hospital Nifong Medical Plaza. By mutual agreement, the park is maintained Columbia Parks and Recreation. The park has a walking trail around water features and garden areas.
Boxer Park is undeveloped and serves as green space and bufferland for Bear Creek. The 3-acre parcel was donated Mr. Stanley Boxer and was named in memory of his deceased son, William I. Boxer.
This six-acre neighborhood park has a playground, open playfield, and 0.3 mile loop trail through the woods.
Rock climbers enjoy the bluffs and scenic overlooks at this 32-acre park. The City of Columbia has a mulch site at this location where citizens can drop off yard waste and pick up free mulch. This park has bridge connections to Grindstone Nature Area and the Hinkson Creek Trail.
This 12.6-acre neighborhood park off Sinclair Road has a single table picnic shelter, playground, half basketball court, baseball/softball field, open playfield, and 0.25-mile loop trail. There is sidewalk access to the park from Stanwood Drive, Bellingham Drive, and Route K.
Clary-Shy Community Park is home to the ARC (Activity & Recreation Center), the MU Health Care Pavilion utilized by the Columbia Farmers Market - a seasonal fresh produce market that serves the community. The park also has a playground and soccer practice fields.
This small 0.65-acre neighborhood park has a playground, group swing, and park bench.
Cosmo Park is Columbia's largest municipal park, one of two regional parks in the park system. The north end of Cosmo Park includes about 70 acres where dogs can run leash free. It is host to the annual Show-Me State Games, as well as many soccer, football, lacrosse, softball, baseball, golf, tennis, mountain bike, and skateboard tournaments and events. It has the largest playground in Columbia's park system - Steinberg Playground, is home to Columbia Skate Park and L. A. Nickell Golf Course, and is a trailhead for the Bear Creek Trail.
This 40-acre community park is adjacent to Gentry Middle School. It shares a 12-court tennis complex with Columbia Public Schools, has a fishing lake with a lakeside trail, reservable shelters, playground, horseshoe pits, year-round restroom, and baseball/softball practice field. In the winter, the lake is stocked with trout for a winter trout fishing program. In the winter when the lake ice depth meets the criteria, the lake is opened for ice fishing.
This 21.1-acre property is currently undeveloped park land. It was acquired in 2017 with funds from the 2010 Park Sales Tax. The property includes one parcel (9.4 acres) which was purchased from Fred Overton for $160,000 and another parcel (11.7 acres) donated by Mr. Overton. The two parcels acquired will be primarily used as land preservation, with the potential for a trail system through the property. In the future, a small area of the property could be developed into a neighborhood park.
Douglass Park is a community park located in central Columbia. It is home to Douglass Family Aquatic Center, two full basketball courts, playground, outdoor amphitheater, restrooms, baseball/softball field, picnic shelters, and a skate spot. The part of park where the basketball courts and baseball field are located is on property owned by Columbia Public Schools. This small neighborhood park is located in central Columbia on the southeast corner of Grand and E Forest Avenues. It has a non-reservable shelter, playground, swingset, and half basketball court. The privacy fence on the south end of the property has a mural. This art project led by Jabberwocky Studios in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation CARE Program who gathered community input and inspiration, designed and painted a mural in the park to reflect the neighborhood's unique culture.
This wooded neighborhood park has a small non-reservable picnic shelter, playground, and access to the Scott's Branch Trail. The Scott's Branch Trail runs north through the park to an elevated boardwalk that leads to the Columbia Audubon Nature Sanctuary and on to Bonnie View Nature Sanctuary. Scott's Branch Trail connects the south end of the park to Scott Boulevard.
