Meetings

Parks and Recreation Commission meetings are held the third Thursday of the month. Check the "Announcements" on the Parks and Recreation webpage for the time/location of the next scheduled Parks and Recreation Commission meeting.

 

Purpose

The City of Columbia appoints Parks and Recreation Commission members to represent citizens within their respective wards. The Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on Parks and Recreation issues. Minimum qualifications for the seven member commission are that they be registered qualified voters of the city who shall not be paid officers or employees of the city, each ward of the city shall be represented, and one at-large member shall be appointed. Length of terms is three years, with openings occurring in May.
