For over 50 years the
City of Columbia has been committed to providing public health services through its
Health Department.
These services prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, protect against environmental hazards, promote healthy behaviors, prevent injuries and illness, assure the quality and accessibility of health services and monitor the health of the population.
Urban service areas are those areas immediately surrounding Ashland, Centralia,
Columbia, Hallsville, Harrisburg and Sturgeon.

Urban service areas shall also include:
any other mobile home
park or any other recorded subdivision which for purposes of this chapter has
been declared an urban service area by order of the Boone County Commission. Fifty-one percent or more of the real estate owners within such mobile home
