Health Department.
These services prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, protect against environmental hazards, promote healthy behaviors, prevent injuries and illness, assure the quality and accessibility of health services and monitor the health of the population.
What happens if a dog or cat bites a person?
- in the City, the animal shall be impounded by Animal Control or with a veterinarian for 10 days for observation
- in Boone County, if the animal has proof of vaccination, the animal shall be impounded on the owner's propert or with a licensed veterinarian of the owner's choice for a period of 10 days
- In Boone County, unvaccinated animals must be impounded for 10 days with a licensed veterinarian
- cost of impoundment shall be paid by the owner
