CITY COUNCIL MEETING - COLUMBIA, MISSOURI
NOVEMBER 3, 1999

INTRODUCTORY
    The City Council of the City of Columbia, Missouri met for a special session at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, November 3, 1999, in the Council Chamber of the City of Columbia, Missouri. The roll was taken with the following results: Council Members JANKU, CROCKETT, CAMPBELL, JOHN, COFFMAN, HINDMAN, and CRAYTON were present. The City Manager, City Counselor, and City Clerk were also present.
 

NEW BUSINESS
R216-99     Declaring results of the November 2, 1999, election.
    The resolution was read by the Clerk.
    Mr. Campbell thanked the voters of the Fourth Ward for turning out in such large numbers to vote.
    The vote on R216-99 was recorded as follows: VOTING YES: JANKU, CROCKETT, CAMPBELL, JOHN, COFFMAN, HINDMAN, CRAYTON. VOTING NO: NO ONE. Resolution declared adopted, reading as follows:
 

REPORTS AND PETITIONS
(A)     Recommendations on ballot issue projects.
    Mr. Beck explained that the report explained how the City might proceed as a result of the election. He briefly explained the four propositions that were approved by the voters. Mr. Beck noted a financial plan would have to be finalized to allow for implementation of the projects. He reported that these issues would be handled in the same manner as issues in the past have been.
    Mayor Hindman made the motion that the staff be directed to proceed as outlined in the report. The motion was seconded by Mr. Janku and approved unanimously by voice vote.
    Mr. Beck voiced his appreciation for the community support that has been shown in allowing the City to move forward with pending issues that had been unfunded.
    Mr. Janku commented that it would be interesting to see a report outlining the ballot issues that have been approved by the citizens of Columbia during this decade. He suggested beginning with the wetlands project that was approved in 1989.
    There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
