For over 50 years the
City of Columbia has been committed to providing public health services through its
Health Department.
These services prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, protect against environmental hazards, promote healthy behaviors, prevent injuries and illness, assure the quality and accessibility of health services and monitor the health of the population.
The purpose of the Columbia-Boone County Basic Needs Coalition is to assist the citizens of Columbia and Boone County, Missouri in meeting their basic needs for food, clothing, shelter, and transportation.
To accomplish this, the Coalition works to bring together providers of basic needs to exchange information; determine any unmet needs; find solutions to these needs by mobilizing community resources; and evaluate progress toward meeting the Coalition's goals.
In addition, the Coalition hosts the quarterly Balance of State Central Missouri Regional Housing Continuum Meetings.
